So you think you can make a pretty good mai tai? Let the pros decide at this year’s Royal RUM-ble Mai Tai Competition during the annual Boston Rum Week at Wusong Tiki Bar. The Harvard Square tiki palace is accepting entries from both professional and home bartenders in the ultimate battle for mai tai supremacy through Sunday, August 25th, so get your jiggers in order and get your recipe over to them via email or submit the info online here ASAP. You must use one of the competition’s sponsored rums (Appleton Estate Rum, Planetary Rum, Rhum Clement and Bounty Rum), and winners will receive some pretty substantial cash and sponsored swag ($500 for first, $250 for second, $150 for third in the pro category; $250 for first, $150 for second, and $100 for third for home bartenders).
Be sure to also scoop up tickets for the RUM-ble on Tuesday, September 16th for $60 each through the New England Tiki Society (they’ll absolutely sell out, but members get first dibs on tix). The night includes entry to the party plus a killer buffet dinner with loads of chef Jason Doo’s signature bites.
