SoWa Power Station – Beverage Operations Manager

We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to take on the Beverage Operations Manager role for the SoWa Power Station events and SoWa Boston events, including private parties, SoWa Sundays and Winter Festival. The position will assist with executing cost initiatives, developing and training employees, and maintaining high levels of guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bartending, designing beverage menus, managing quality control, profitability, inventory, etc. They will be a well-rounded, trustworthy individual with a multifaceted knowledge of this industry and possesses a can-do attitude. This is an exempt role reporting to the SoWa Power Station Events Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit, hire, schedule and direct all Bar Staff based on event and exhibit needs.
  • Provide hands-on training, continual development and teaching to Bar Staff to produce an effective, efficient, professional and personable team to reflect the high standards of the Power Station, our Exclusive Catering Partners, GTI and SoWa.
  • Hold Bar Staff accountable to established high standards through effective coaching and communication.
  • Hold pre-shift meetings for each event to effectively set the team up for successful shifts.
  • Adheres to alcohol awareness procedures.
  • Check out Bar Staff at the end of each event by inspecting their bars and assigned side work for cleanliness and inventory to ensure proper bar maintenance.
  • Pre and Post-event inventory controls processing.
  • Develop professional relationships with beverage distributors to order and receive products in a cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Monitor beverage and labor cost by establishing methods to develop goals for the Power Station.
  • Work with the Power Station Events Director (PSED) to develop and maintain a standard beverage menu that is effective for private events ranging from 20 to 1500 people.
  • Work with the PSED and SoWa Community Events Manager to develop beverage menus for community events.
  • Develop signature cocktail options for private events, and properly train staff to execute items to deliver a consistent product each time.
  • Respond to beverage requests from the PSED within 24 hours of receiving the request.
  • Collect all invoices and review with PSED to submit for payment in a timely fashion.
  • Work with the PSED to handle client and guests complaints by listening, evaluating, and responding to their concerns and offering a resolution to ensure great guest satisfaction.
