Grab your meilleur ami (best friend) and head for Batifol in Cambridge on Friday, June 28th at 3:00pm for their first-ever pétanque competition. What is pétanque, you might ask? It’s a classic French boules sport, which is kinda like bocce. One player throws the small target “cochonnet” ball (“jack” in English), and then you compete by tossing larger boules to try and get closest to the target. Unlike bocce, the game is played with all-metal balls that weigh up to 800 grams each, and players must stand in one place (without moving) to launch their boules. If you think you’ve got what it takes to dominate on the boulodrome (playing area), shoot them an email to sign up for the tourney, or give them a call at 617.945.0345. There will be two fields set up for pairs to play, plus there will be a special pastis menu for snacking between games.
