JP Porchfest is Back

JP Porchfest

Every stoop, veranda, screened-in, and lanai in Jamaica Plain is about to be lit for the JP Porchfest on Saturday, August 24th, and you can get yourself right in the middle of all the action with a stop at Tres Gatos. Start your annual stroll through the neighborhood to check out all the music, dance and theater performed live on porches, in green spaces, and at community hubs with a stop at the city’s only bookstore/music store/tapas joint at 470 Centre Street. There’ll be brunch and bevvies, plus a store-wide sale packed with vinyl, books, kitchen items and more. Even better, they’ll be hosting some live performances of their own on their Roseway Street patio including Ruby Grove, Heather Mumford, Happy Little Clouds and more, so you can swing back throughout the day for a cold drink and a little dancing.

Started in 2014, Porchfest is produced by Dunamis, a nonprofit committed to nurturing Boston’s next generation of artists and arts managers of color through professional development opportunities. Each year the neighborhood opens up for the annual fest to create space for a diverse community of cultural workers, neighbors, and art enthusiasts to come together and have a good time. Check out the official Porchfest schedule on the website, which also covers many of the most common Qs.

Spots at Tres Gatos will definitely be scarce so be sure to make a reservation here for dinner if you’re planning to eat, or give them a call at 617.477.4851 (brunch and patio seating is only first-come, first-served). And be sure to follow Porchfest’s official Instagram to keep up with all the breaking news as the day unfolds.
