Have One for the Bees

Vermont’s award-winning distillery, Caledonia Spirits, is back at it on behalf of their hardworking, winged pals with this year’s Bee’s Knees Week, which runs from Friday, September 20th through Sunday, September 29th.

The Montpelier-based makers of Bar Hill Gin (and a slew of other spirits that incorporate raw honey) have made it their mission to help the beleaguered pollinators (bees are responsible for 1 in every 3 bites of food, but they face multiple threats including pesticides, mites, loss of habitat and Colony Collapse Disorder). And they’ve gotten their fellow bee-fans on board – bartenders across the country will be running special versions of the classic cocktail. All you have to do to is head out, enjoy a drink, snap a photo and share it on social with #beeskneesweek. Bee sure to tag @barrhillgin; for each and every pic, Caledonia Spirits will plant 10 square feet of bee habitat.

Lots of local spots will be doing their part and so can you. Scroll through the list of participants online here to plan your outings to venues like Bambara, B&G Oysters, Branch Line, Eastern Standard, Foundry on Elm, Grafton Street, Hobgoblin, The Hourly, Myers + Chang, Nautilus Pier 4, OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, Rail Stop Restaurant & Bar, Row 34 Boston, Cambridge & Burlington, SaloonThe Salty Pig and Tiny Bar among lots of others. Scope out some of the offerings in the slideshow below.
