Noted chef (and now chef-owner) Todd Winer brings the simplicity and bucolic charm of the Italian countryside to Boston’s burgeoning Fort Point with the opening of Pastoral. Open daily for lunch, dinner and delivery as well as Sunday brunch, the restaurant is a warm and welcoming addition to the neighborhood, and the culmination of years of research on the job and on the road.

Inspired by Winer’s training and travel throughout the United States and across the globe, the menu features rustic yet refined fare with a focus on authentic Neapolitan pizzas. Pastas are made in-house in the restaurant’s open kitchen, as are cheeses like buratta, mozzarella and ricotta. Winer, who was recently certified by the VPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) as an official Pizzaiolo, finishes many of the dishes in the restaurant’s wood-fired oven which was imported from Naples, weighs 6,000 pounds and is made from stone and sand from Mt. Vesuvius.

The dining room captures the rural-meets-industrial feel with unembellished wood tables and leather banquettes, brick walls, polished concrete floors and milk bottle and milk crate light fixtures. With a large chef’s table, bar seating and, weather permitting, European-style sidewalk seating, Pastoral can accommodate any occasion and just about any sized group. They also offer lots of take-out options for folks who’d prefer to pick something up to be enjoyed at home.
