The Painted Burro, a 2012 addition to Davis Square’s burgeoning restaurant scene, features an exciting seasonal menu that highlights the diverse regional cuisines of Mexico (specifically Baja, Oaxaca, Vera Cruz and the Yucatan) with splashes from South America. The modern approach to cuisine with a respect for tradition is exemplified throughout dishes where ingredients and local produce take center stage.

The beverage program boats a tequila list with over 100 handpicked bottles which can be incorporated into margaritas, enjoyed by the 2 oz pour or by the flight. The Painted Burro also offers an impeccable cocktail, cerveza and wine list.

The dining room, adorned with murals symbolic of Mexican culture (depictions of Catinflas, the iconic burro, with a traditional Mexican fighting mask, Day of the Dead skulls and Mexican speech bubbles), is lively and warm with a farm chic vibe. Reclaimed wood can be found throughout the space, specifically at the bar which is constructed of vintage timber beams from Maine and Vermont. The dining room and bar feature custom built furniture that is distressed by hand and as artistic as it is comfortable.
