Just a few blocks from Fenway Park, Church Restaurant & Nightclub is like a two-for-one special - a casual American bistro on one side and a live music venue on the other. Born from a love of good music, great food and creative drinks, the restaurant serves a contemporary menu of creative comfort food for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. An eclectic wine list covers almost every region of the world, and The Seven Deadly Sins cocktail list features drinks to suit your palate and your particular vice.
The restaurant's modern take on a gothic theme includes commissioned pieces from local artists - stained glass windows, hand-poured flagstone floors and edgy local photography. During the warm summer months, saints and sinners congregate on the outdoor patio for dinner and drinks.
On the other side is a 250 person capacity, full-fledged music venue where the stage plays host to local and touring artists playing every type of music imaginable. In addition, pool tables and plasma TVs are also located throughout the club, providing a great place to watch the game.

Edible Homage to Fenway Park
Chef John Gilman pays tribute to that lyric little bandbox of a ballpark throughout the month of April with menus ...

Chef Jon Gilman, currently at the helm of the Dram Shop Hospitality's Church Restaurant & Nightclub as Chef de Cuisine, brings his experience in working with local farms and sourcing local and sustainable products to the Fenway kitchen.
Gilman's passion for sustainable cooking comes from being brought up in Halifax, Mass., a small rural town in Massachusetts, and raised by parents who taught him the importance of local farming and gardening.
Gilman, who graduated from the University of Vermont with a degree in political science and philosophy, started his post-college career in the political world. Working for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, he focused on working in the field of sustainable farming and agriculture.
When it came time to take his passion to the next level, it seemed only natural that Gilman turned to the restaurant industry. He took a job in a local foods scratch kitchen at Naked Oyster in Hyannis, where he thrived, rising quickly through the ranks. After just a year and a half, he was fully involved in assisting the day to day operation of the kitchen, making local connections, and exercising creativity in the design of the menu.
Given the opportunity to move his career to Boston, Gilman took the position of Executive Sous Chef at the Cambridge Brewing Company. Here, he was able to reach out to many more local farms throughout Massachusetts and refine his culinary skills under Executive Chef David Drew.
Gilman, who believes that people often assume well-executed, local, sustainable food must be expensive and elitist, is eager to bring his knowledge of sustainable food and farming to the kitchen at Church. With every opportunity, he'll bring the menu closer to its source while sticking close to a reasonable price-point and proving that locally sourced sustainable foods don't have to come with a high price tag.
