Brought to fruition by more than thirty local inventors and innovative municipal funding, Chris Douglass' Ashmont Grill, like its sister restaurant and neighbor Tavolo, is one of those rare neighborhood restaurants that attracts people from other neighborhoods. The casual, modern bistro, which boasts two outdoor patios in its speedily gentrifying section of Dorchester, serves upscale comfort food for dinner and weekend brunch.
In keeping with Douglass' long-standing commitment to sustainability, the seasonally changing menu at Ashmont Grill is chock full of the locally caught, raised or grown seafood, meats and produce.

Chef de Cuisine John Rush hails from a tiny town near Allentown, Pennsylvania.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York before moving to Boston to begin his career. Rush was fortunate enough to land a job in the kitchen at Radius, where he spent three and a half years learning the ropes. He calls it "a four-star experience."
Ashmont Grill is only his 2nd professional position, and he is credited with re-creating the weekend brunch menu with creative additions like apple pie French toast, eggs Nova Scotia and chilequiles. At dinner, try his mushroom and pearl barley strudel in phyllo.
