Battle of the Burger Rages On

The first round of Boston Magazine’s epic Battle of the Burger has come to a close, narrowing the field of fifty down to the top twenty. Among the contenders: Saloon’s rendition which starts with grass-fed Maine ground chuck and tops it with roasted bone marrow, pickled shallots and hen of the woods mushrooms; the Bond Banh Mi Burger, an Angus beef burger with Vietnamese flavors of nuoc nam, soy, slivered garlic, scallion, jalapeno and lime zest; and the Localvore Burger from Church, adorned with IPA whipped Cloumage, arugula, grilled red onion and applewood smoked bacon.

Try them all – and vote for your favorite – at the final face-off, scheduled for Tuesday, August 7th at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal (1 Black Falcon Avenue in South Boston). The evening’s entertainment, which runs from 7:00-10:00pm (or 6:00-10:00pm if you opt for VIP tickets), costs $75 per person (or $95 per very important person). Tickets are available online – as is the entire list of potential winners.

If you’re looking for a sneak preview, chef Jim Solomon, whose burger was named the people’s choice, is hosting the Burger Bash at The Fireplace on July 29th so you can get a jump on the burger-tasting.
