Union Sq. Celebrates an American Tradition

There’s no doubt about Boston’s place in history – the shots fired at Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Bunker Hill etc. – but nothing compares to the invention of Marshmallow Fluff at the turn of the 20th century by Somerville resident and American treasure, Archibald Query. To honor Query’s indelible cultural contribution, the What The Fluff? Festival returns to the birthplace of Fluff, Somerville’s Union Square, from 3:00-7:00pm on Saturday, September 27th. The annual tradition, organized by Union Square Main Streets, is sure to satisfy all your Fluff eating, drinking and cosplaying needs – and it’s free! Neighborhood restaurants are jumping in on the fun, too. Bronwyn will be serving a cocktail called Beyond Flufferdome, made with Fluff, Killepitsch herbal liqueur and Berentzen Icemint Schnapps and snacks like smoked ham ‘n’ Fluff sandwiches. Casa B will be whipping up a rum-based Fluff punch and homemade Fluff tres leches cake. There will be something for every taste, no matter how you take your Fluff.
