35th Annual Oktoberfest in Harvard Sq.

If you’re sticking around town for the holiday weekend, head to Harvard Square on Sunday, October 13th for the 35th annual Oktoberfest celebration. The day of festivities, which runs from 12:00-6:00pm, includes live music on six stages, food from more than fifty purveyors of deliciousness and 150+ vendors selling their handmade crafts and vintage wares. An Oktoberfest party wouldn’t be complete without beer. Luckily the folks at Grafton Street are teaming up with their friends at Sam Adams to host one of the afternoon’s four beer gardens, where 21+ guests can sip an array of seasonal brews and snag some free Sam Adams swag. And they’re even doing some good while they’re at it: proceeds from the garden, which will be right by the main stage at the center of the square (across from Out of Town News), will be donated to Youth on Fire, a drop-in center that provides a wealth of services (meals, mental health counseling, housing and health care, for starters) to homeless teens. See the day’s whole line-up of events here and be sure to swing by for a beer.
