It's no secret the French are fond of cheese - so it's no surprise that Sandrine's chef-owner Raymond Ost would celebrate one of his favorite cheesemakers with an elaborate five-course menu in their honor. Ost welcomes Allison Hooper of Vermont Butter & Cheese Creamery, which is celebrating 25 years of artisanal cheesemaking, for a dairy-laden dinner on Tuesday, October 20th. The $45 dollar dinner ($65 with paired wines) blends the wares and skills of these two award-winning masters of their respective trades in dishes like an Alsatian tarte flambée - a crispy flatbread topped with fromage blanc, marscarpone, caramelized onions and Niman Ranch bacon; and Chevre Chaud - warm fresh Crottin de Chevre served on a baguette crouton with baby mache and apple cider vinaigrette. Pastry Chef Molly Hanson of Grill 23 and Post 390 will also make an appearance to provide desserts - devil's food chocolate cupcake with crème fraîche cherry ice cream; and pecan shortbread cookies and almond biscotti. To make reservations, which will be accepted anytime between 6:00 and 8:30pm, call 617.497.5300.
